Social Justice and Service
The Jewish values of tzedek (justice) and tikkun olam (repairing the world) inspire our work at Texas Hillel and have become a cornerstone of our programming. Each year, Texas Hillel leads social justice events and discussions around the Jewish holidays. Students are encouraged to incorporate service into various programs and work with various organizations on campus to create social justice service opportunities.
We also proudly offer immersive alternative break experiences based on student interests. Past trips include Hungary/Romania, Argentina, Brooklyn, and New Orleans. Our students have also participated in Give Kids the World. In 2020, we kicked off our first ever Week of Giving, where students had different opportunities to give back to the community, including a blood drive, bone marrow donor registration, and raising money for a local food bank.
