My favorite Hillel moment was seeing the Israel Block Party event come to life. Seeing the hard work of the whole team coming together in the form of a successful event was very rewarding and exciting.

Hillel is where I bring my friends, where I go to meet new people and see familiar faces. Hillel is where I go to pray on Shabbat and celebrate holidays. Sometimes, Hillel is where I spend days studying when I’m too exhausted to walk back home. At this point, Hillel is just a part of my everyday life.

In a world where there is so much controversy, I’m so glad that organizations like Hillel exist where I could contribute to events such as Israel Block Party and celebrate Israeli culture. Hillel has given me an outlet to proudly be a Jewish supporter of Israel.

When I first came to UT as an out-of-state student, I was extremely nervous I wasn’t going to find a community, specifically a Jewish community, that I felt completely comfortable in. However, the minute I walked into Hillel, there was an overwhelming amount of love and support. Hillel is the place that people can come no matter their background to have a sense of family and home while away at college, and that continues way beyond the college years.

My favorite Hillel memory was Israel Block Party 2022. The whole community banded together in a tough time on campus to be pro-Israel and put on an amazing event. We reached thousands of students through fun cultural immersion and even a live camel! Without The support of Texas Hillel’s leadership staff, the event would not have been possible. I think this event encapsulates what makes our Hillel so special and I will always treasure this day.

My favorite Hillel memory was being able to go on Onward with other students and live in Tel Aviv for the summer. It was the most amazing experience where I became truly independent, made new friendships, and immersed myself in the Israeli culture. I was able to celebrate my Judaism and the community Hillel formed will last forever.

I think my favorite thing about Hillel is the unparalleled, supportive community I’ve found there. There are so many opportunities to grow and develop and the staff and the students always make you feel welcome and are there to help you take the leap if you want.
