Rachel Olds, IACT Israel & Community Engagement Coordinator

Rachel was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University where she studied Community Development with a concentration in Community Engagement and minored in American Sign Language and Intergroup Relations & Justice. She grew up in a very tight knit Jewish community and has only grown her faith and community during her time at CMU Hillel! In her free time, you will find Rachel reading, playing with her dog Molly (who is coming with her to Texas) or listening to music!

Rachel is thrilled to join Texas Hillel as the new IACT Coordinator. This summer, she is living in Tel Aviv as part of the Birthright Onward program, where she’s deepening her connection to Israel, exploring the culture, and forming meaningful relationships with peers from around the world. Her time in Israel has been both empowering and inspiring, and she’s eager to bring that energy and experience to her work with Jewish students in Austin.

Rachel is looking forward to building authentic connections, supporting students in exploring their Jewish identities, and helping them discover the many opportunities to engage with Israel—especially through Birthright. She is passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where students feel seen, heard, and celebrated.

Whether someone is curious about traveling to Israel, looking to grow their Jewish community, or just wants to grab coffee (or hot chocolate) and talk, she is always excited to connect. So if you’re interested in Birthright, love shakshuka, want to learn more about Israel, or just need someone to talk to— Rachel is excited to meet you all!
