Social Justice and Community Service
Texas Hillel is dedicated to transforming life on campus and in the community through community partnership, advocacy/awareness, service, and education. Framed by the Jewish imperatives of tzedakah (righteousness), gemilut chasadim (acts of loving kindness), and tikkun olam (repair of the world), Tzedek Hillel engages and empowers students in meaningful public service and encourages out-of-the-box thinking addressing social justice issues. Whether you widen a child’s horizons, advocate against genocide, volunteer at a shelter, donate clothing or organize others, these actions stem from our Jewish tradition.
Recognized by the University of Texas as the Best Political Activist Student Organization, The White Rose Society is dedicated to Holocaust remembrance and genocide awareness. Click here to visit The White Rose Society website.
Current and past initiatives include:
* Challah for Hunger
* Apathy or Action: The Struggle for Human Rights, generously sponsored by Whole Foods.
