Jewish Learning Fellowship
Spring Semester 2010
The Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF) aims to provide a semester of intellectual and experiential learning for students looking to deepen their understanding of Judaism. Each Fellow receives a stipend of $300 upon completion of the program. Each learning session will include classical Jewish texts (in the original and translation) to spark conversations about life’s big enduring questions.
The Fellowship:
The program will run throughout the 2010 Spring semester. Selection is based on an applicant’s expressed desire to benefit personally and Jewish-ly from the program. The Fellowship is led by Rabbi Moshe Trepp, and consists of weekly interactive learning sessions and intensive, inclusive Jewish experiences. Participants will have the chance to learn regularly with Rabbi Trepp, and to interact with Texas Hillel’s Senior Jewish Educator Devora Brustin and Director of Jewish Student Life Margo Sack through the many informal learning opportunities available each semester.
Requirements:
The Fellowship stipend will be awarded upon fulfillment of the following requirements:
* Attendance at all 10 sessions
* Participation in a Shabbat experience at Texas Hillel (which includes a Friday night service dinner, Saturday lunch and afternoon programming at Rabbi Trepp’s home)
* A mid-semester reflection paper
* A final project where each student briefly presents an idea they’ve learned over the course of the Fellowship to an intimate group of peers.
