Directions and Parking Information

Our Names

Texas Hillel’s new home is the result of a statewide (and beyond) capital campaign. The Topfer Center for Jewish Life at the Abe and Annie Seibel Building is named in honor of Mort and Bobbi Topfer of Austin and the late Abe and Annie Seibel from Galveston.

Mort Topfer

Mr. Topfer is the Managing Director of Castletop Capital L.P., an investment firm that focuses on private equity and real estate investments. Before forming Castletop Capital in 2002, Mr. Topfer was Vice Chairman of Dell Computer Corporation, counselor to Dell’s Chief Executive Officer and a member of Dell’s office of the Chief Executive Officer. Before joining Dell in 1994, Mr. Topfer held various positions with Motorola, Inc., last serving as Corporate Executive Vice President and President of the Land Mobile Products Sector. Before joining Motorola in 1971, Mr. Topfer spent 11 years with RCA Laboratories in various research and development and management positions. He is a graduate of Brooklyn College and a proud father and grandfather.

Abe and Annie Seibel

Abe and Annie Seibel lived the American dream, and left a legacy of support for education that has provided scholarships and resources for countless students. Their memories are kept alive through the work of their foundation in Galveston, administered through Frost Bank.

Our Home

Our two-story, 18,000 square foot facility includes flexible multi-purpose spaces for meals and presentations, two upstairs meeting rooms and two libraries. With movable walls and furnishings we are able to transition quickly from the look and feel of three small synagogues into space for movies, receptions and formal affairs. Texas Hillel has a loft between the first and second stories, with a 12-foot movie screen and tiered seating. Our first floor game room is a comfortable place for students to hang out and play video games or watch Israeli satellite TV.
